About Your Coach – Jamal Collins
Pose Coaching Experience & Philosophy: I began providing pose coaching services in
2021 (4 years ago). I have worked with athletes in every male category offered. I have
experience coaching athletes with all ranges of experience, from first-timers who need to
learn the basics from the ground up to experienced pros that want to fine-tune their stage
presence. I have worked with athletes competing in sanctioned events in all federations available in the
U.S. as well as for unsanctioned shows. Currently my focus has been working with athletes
competing in Men’s Physique, Classic Physique, and Bodybuilding. But I do have experience
with athletes competing in Sports Modeling and Formal Wear offered in the INBA/PNBA.
Competing Experience:
I am currently a WNBF Men’s Physique and Master’s Bodybuilding Pro. I hold 6 amateur
titles and 2 pro titles with the WNBF. I have also been awarded 4 Best Presenter Awards for
Men’s Physique and 2 Best Poser Awards for Bodybuilding.
Judging Experience:
I became an official judge with the WNBF in 2022. I currently am a standing judge for 5 WNBF
shows each year. Being on judges’ panels aids in my ability to assist athletes with their
presentation and have a better understanding of what judges are looking for.
I think of posing as an artistic skill that can be honed and improved on with proper
guidance and practice. Posing was not something that came naturally to me. However, with
years of guidance and practice, I have become known for my posing and have a reputation
for my stage presence. Coaching allows athletes to gain a better
understanding of posing while improving their stage performance and endurance.
In my process, I work to meet athletes where they are by assessing what they currently know
or don’t know and building from there, based on the category and federation that they plan on
competing in. Because posing is something that you get better at the more you do it, I offer
initial and ongoing services as well.
